I saw Mr Kurzer for the first time two weeks ago and he operated on me the following day. I needed to have the operation done then because I am going to the far east next week and I didn't want to have any trouble there. Mr Kurzer was most helpful in arranging the appointments to suit me. He is such a caring person and got in touch with my wife immediately after the operation to reassure her that it had gone well. The following morning, he telephoned my wife to check that I was all right and if I had any problems. I went into The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth at 7.00am and was operated upon soon after. Mr Kurzer came to see me after he had completed his operating list. I had lunch and was able to leave at 3.00pm with my wife, armed with instructions, spare bandages (which I never needed) loads of pain killers and anti-embolism stockings. The pain was not as great as I had expected and was kept under control with only Ibuprofen 400 which I was able to give up after a week. The waterproof bandage withstood daily showers and when I took it off after one week I found the wound to be clean and not requiring any further dressing. The pain gets less and less every day and I feel confident that I will be able to enjoy my holiday next week. In short, I can thoroughly recommend Mr Kurzer to anybody thinking about a hernia operation. He is a true professional and a kind and considerate gentleman

I identified Martin Kurzer from personal internet research and based my decision to consult him on his impressive track record and standing in the field of hernia surgery. This was to be my first surgery of any kind and I was anxious to make the right decision in terms of surgeon and hospital. I was able to see Mr Kurzer quite quickly and initially was advised to delay surgery and monitor the condition. Subsequently Mr Kurzer advised surgery which was arranged at a convenient early date. From pre to post op my experience has been good. Quite apart from his undoubted professional skill I found Mr Kurzer to be very courteous, kind, reassuring, and ready to spend whatever time was required to cover the issues. He is a real gentleman. The support system at the hospital was fine from the surgical team to the nursing and admin back up.

Look no further! Thank you would be an understatement. I have had the repair done on the 12th of September and as it was my first op had a lot of anxiety about it. Dr Kurzer is beyond a great surgeon, he is a great person and I can hardly think of anyone who would be so attentive, caring and professional. I am delighted to have had the op with Dr. Kurzer, and had him available and responsive to my queries and concerns. Dr. Kurzer verily helped reduce my anxiety and his experience and superb communication skills are beyond commendable! Highly recommended, not a single doubt about it.

Open Hernia Repair with Light Weight Mesh I am a 41 year old male who underwent open hernia repair with light weight mesh about 3 weeks ago on the 22nd August 2018. Below is my honest experience with Martin Kurzer and the Hospital of St Johns and Elizabeth in London Background to my inguinal hernia. I had initially developed my inguinal hernia some time ago which was manageable up to about six months ago. However after doing some exercise the next day I noticed my hernia had enlarged considerably and was now causing me substantial discomfort. This discomfort interfered and limited me in my daily routine and as such I felt my quality of life had lowered because of this. Consequently I made the decision to seek surgery to repair this and get the quality of life I had once enjoyed back before this happened. I live and work overseas in the Gulf region and was weary of having the operation here. As a result I searched for a specialist, experienced and well known hernia surgeon and thus came across Martin Kurzer Initial Consultation I flew to London to meet Martin and for him to advise me on the best course of action to take. I found Martin to be extremely approachable, empathetic and very professional. During the consultation Martin encouraged me to ask any questions or any concerns I may have regarding the operation. After the consultation we set the date for surgery one week later which was very convenient for me since I had come from overseas for the operation on my summer vacation. I left the consultation feeling very comfortable that I was in safe hands with Martin. Days before the operation A few days before the operation I had unfortunately developed tonsillitis and as a result had to delay the operation for one week. Martin was very accommodating and rescheduled promptly another day (one week later). During this time communication between myself and Martin with his secretary was excellent whether it being through email or phone calls. Due to the nature of my job in the Gulf region my employer needed a attested sick note. As I had developed tonsillitis towards the end of my summer vacation and delayed the operation by one week I needed to apply for sick leave. Martin was completely understanding of my situation and promptly issued me with a medical report and sick note. In sum Martin not only showed empathy with me by rescheduling my operation promptly, but also was extremely cooperative in taking the time to write the medical report and sick note so I could present it to my company. Day of the operation I booked in at the hospital of St Johns and Elizabeth at 0700 in the morning. The process was seamless, very organized and professional. I may add the nursing staff were excellent. After being allocated my private room which was very comfortable I met the Anesthetist Virginia Brown. She was very courteous and explained exactly the procedure to follow which was general anesthetic. I really felt very comfortable after meeting with her. I then met with Martin who explained to me what will be happening and took a look at the hernia. Once again I was very reassured after meeting Martin , his friendly and caring character helped put what little nerves I had to rest before the operation. After the operation- short term. Before I knew it the operation was over and back in my private room. After recovering for some time Martin came to check on me and mentioned he would check on me again the next day before I was discharged from the hospital. He gave me his whats app number and mentioned to contact him if any concerns arose. I was very comfortable and really did not feel too much pain after the first day. The next day I checked out of the hospital but not before Martin came to see me one last time to check on how I was. I then took a taxi to Euston station and a train up to North Wales where my parent live to recover for a number of days. Six days later I then flew back to the Gulf and commenced work again. After the Operation- 3 weeks It has now been three weeks since I had the operation and I can move around well now. My recovery has been very good with the swelling almost subsided completely in addition the cut incision is very neatly done. On balance at week three my recovery has been great and I am happy with the continued progress. Overall my experience has been very positive. I am extremely happy I had the operation done with Martin. He is one of a kind a true gentleman. Moreover very professional and truly caring. If you may be considering having the operation I would wholeheartedly and without hesitation recommend Martin. Equally you will be in good hands with the nursing staff of St Johns and Elizabeth .

I had my hernia repair operation in July 2018. This went very well. From the initial consultation with Martin Kurzer, I felt that he knew exactly what he was doing and was an expert in his field. I also appreciated his confident, friendly and informal approach. We very quickly agreed the date for the operation, just one week after the consultation, communicating effectively by phone and email. I arrived at 8.30am at the hospital on a Monday morning, and the nursing staff and anaesthetist were very friendly, efficient and considerate. I had the operation that morning under light general anaesthetic, and was eating smoked salmon sandwiches for lunch at 1.00pm, and a Mediterranean fish stew at 6.00pm. I almost enjoyed the experience! It is now 11 days since the operation and I am recovering well. I have had very little pain and taken only a few pain killers in the first two days after the operation. Martin has been in touch since the operation to check how things were going. Overall, I am very happy with the operation and how Martin and his colleagues looked after me. The only issue I would raise was the noise level - I think from the air conditioning system - at night (as I stayed in the hospital for one night after the operation). This is a relatively minor point, but it might be worth investigating if this could be lessened by upgrading the system in some regard.
